Om chanting

The word Om came from the combination of three different cosmic energy vibrations. The meaning of OM and OM chanting can be understood as below. Our environment is filled up with the numerous free-roaming energy particles (atoms). Each atom’s outermost orbit electrons are vibrating. When anything rotates speedily, it creates a sound like reeeng. The free-roaming cosmic energy particles (atoms) in the air or cosmos are constantly in motion. The outermost orbit electrons in an atom are always in continuous rotation and create a constant sound like reeennnggg. Most cosmic energy particles’ vibrations will end with the sound vibrations aang, unng, and manng. Atom particles are very tiny, and hence the vibrations of atoms (i.e., cosmic energy) cannot be heard loudly, and it is generally very mild. Therefore, instead of referring to as aang, unng, and manng, it can be referred to simply as amm, umm, mamm, and collectively called “aum” or more colloquially as “Om.” People think that OM chanting is a mantra used to worship the gods. But it is a vibration of cosmic energy particles. When a person chants OM, it activates the cosmic energy particles exist in his body cells and brain chambers.

What happens when Om chanting?

During Om chanting, all categories of free-roaming cosmic energy particles in our surroundings will listen to our voice and come to us. Cosmic energy is also called Pranava (another name). In the Sanskrit language, Pranav means life energy. Without cosmic energy (like Oxygen), we cannot survive and exist. Thus, the cosmic energy’s collective sound vibration OM is referred to as Pranava Mantra. When any human utters or chants the word “aum or om,” the free-roaming cosmic energy particles in the nearby surrounding air will turn their attention towards the chanting person and assume that that person is calling them.

If the vibration OM is chanted, all free-roaming cosmic energies in your environment and body will pay attention. Hence, to accumulate more cosmic energy in the puja room or temple, the OM mantra is chanted. When the cosmic energies are invited to the places of worship, they must be treated well, and some food energy has to be offered to them just as a guest is treated in our homes. Thus, before starting the OM chanting or any other mantras in any place, there should be some food/water/fruits must be kept on a plate. This is known as naivedyam or prasadham, which is the food energy for the cosmic energy particles invited in that worship place.
